Fortress Lake is tucked behind the Canadian Icefields in Hamber Provincial Park. At one time, the park had campsite along the lake but two vital bridges were washed away and parks decided to lay these campsite to rest as there was now no way to get into the park on foot. Your options were to packraft over two rivers or fly in. Since the campsite have been decommissioned, there is one standing facility on the lake – Fortress Lake Lodge.

We met Craig Sommer’s (owner) last summer on a packraft and hike trip into Fortress Lake. He took a liking to us and has offered us something VERY special. The use of his lodge for special dates over the summer. This lodge has traditionally been used for fly fishing but Untamed Tours, and a small group of explorers want to use the base as a starting ground for the many amazing places around the peninsula. With the lodge being tucked into the valley surrounded by big mountains, glaciers, creeks, streams and rivers, there is a life time of exploring to do in this area.
